Due to the immense generosity of GCI old boys and friends of GCI as listed below, GCI now has running water and brand new functional toilets! For those who attended ENDO 2012 in Atlanta, we watched a video in which the Principal thanked GCIOBANA and showed us the running taps in GCI and other numerous projects that are underway. This is just a first step in restoring GCI and the project is ongoing. We continue to urge you to please send in your donations.

GCI has no running water...none! Not in the toilets, not in the bathrooms, not in the laboratories. We have taken the liberty of asking a reputable firm to survey the school and provide an estimate of what it will take to provide running water for the 3900 students and staff.

Hello Sir,

On behalf of the Oyo State Ministry of Education, the Principal, staff and
students of Government College Ibadan, I wish to express my profound
gratitude for your kind philanthropic gesture to your Alma Matter.
 
The water project, for which survey is already concluded for the citing of
the borehole, could not have come at a better time than now when the GCI
community engage in daily struggle to get water. The absence of a system of
water supply has also been hindering practical works in our science
laboratories.
 
Sir, we wish to know when the next stage, after the survey, will commence
so we can make necessary arrangements to render all necessary assistance to
the contractor.
 
Once again, we are grateful.

Complete Estimate and Breakdown

LOCATION 1:      ELECTRIC BUILDING
The borehole constructed behind the old power generating house (Electric building) will  pump to storage tanks at Geography Department. This will serve the Administrative blocks, Biology Laboratory and fetching point for students which will comprise three taps. Another six thousand storage tank will serve Chemistry and Physics Laboratory.

LOCATION 2:  
The borehole is directly opposite Tennis court. There is an existing concrete scaffold which will need reinforcement with storage tanks. This will serve staff quarters and classrooms. There will also be fetching points with taps
Note
The existing two boreholes are behind the old dining hall and not functioning because of low yield and shallows depth. The administrative officers claimed that the boreholes are meant to serve the old boys building.

One million and forty thousand Naira only (#1,040,000) , Excluding storage facilities.

ESTIMATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OVERHEAD STORAGE TANKS OF 18,000 LITRES AND RECTICULATION WORKS
